Do For One | Restoring Dignity & Purpose

Hope Roosevelt Island strategically partners with the not for profit organization, Do For One. With them we work towards restoring dignity and purpose to those living with physical and cognitive disabilities through the power of genuine relationships.

Community Activities

As a community we host and participate in community activities such as the karaoke night at Coler Hospital. These events encourage life-affirming community between residents and other islanders, and provide opportunities for individual relationships to begin.

With Dignity Conference

With Dignity Conference

In May 2015 we hosted the With Dignity Conference with the mission of equipping the local church to serve and empower those living with disability.

Do For One

One to One Relationships

The heartbeat of Do For One is the power of genuine one to one relationships. Many individuals living with disability have lost any genuine friendship. All those they interact with are paid to be there, or are otherwise incentivized. They are without a true friend to support and love them simply for who they are. As a church, we encourage our congregation to investigate Do For One and prayerfully consider making themselves available for one of these relationships.
